Lewis Clydell Burton Sr. was born on November 11, 1946, in West Memphis, Arkansas. He was the fourth child born to the union of Jim and Sylvia Burton.

Lewis enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He could often be found playing cards, enjoying a game of basketball, or golfing. Football season was a highlight of each year because Lewis would choose a new team to cheer for—as long as they were winning.

A Time to Die

Lewis Clydell Burton Sr. departed this life on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital–Memphis. During the final days of his life, he was surrounded by the love and care of his family and caregivers.

Lewis leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Terri L. Burton; his son, Lewis C. Burton Jr.; his grandchild, Nehemiah Noel Burton; his sisters, Carrie, Classie, Patricia, Shirley, Sandra (BJ), and Sheila (James); his brothers, Jim Jr. (Rose), Joe, Charles (Elaine), Roy (Edna), Bobby, and Don (Cynthia); and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
